Homeopathy Mediums

For the purpose of dispensing homoeopathic drugs the solid vehicles generally used are globules, tablets, sugar of milk etc., and liquid vehicles used are alcohol, distilled water and glycerine etc.

This is Aqua Disstilla .Distilled water is water that has virtually all of its impurities removed through distillation (boiling the water and re-condensing the steam into a clean container, leaving contaminants behind).

Saccharum Lactis or Sacc. Lact. Or Lactose
Sugar of milk or milk sugar; A disaccharide, C12H22O11, found in milk, that may be hydrolyzed to yield glucose and galactose. A crystalline sugar present in milk, and separable from the whey by evaporation and crystallization. It has a slightly sweet taste, is dextrorotary, and is much less soluble in water than either cane sugar or glucose.

GLYCERINE ( Glycerinum , Glycerol )
Glycerin, also known as glycerine and glycerol, and less commonly as 1,2,3-propanetriol, 1,2,3-trihydroxypropane, glyceritol, and glycyl alcohol is a colorless, odorless, hygroscopic, and sweet tasting viscous liquid. Glycerin has three hydrophilic alcoholic hydroxyl groups (-OH) that are responsible for its solubility in water. Glycerin is prochiral. It is colourless, viscous and slightly sweet.

A viscous, concentrated sugar solution resulting from the evaporation of water, or the remaining liquor after crystallization of sugar from a solution. Specific gravity of syrup is 1.33

Ethyl alcohol, a chemical compound formed by the action of natural or added yeast on the sugar content of grapes during fermentation.

ALCOHOL FORTIS ( Strong Alcohol )
It contains about 94.9% by volume of Pure Ethyl Alcohol. It is used principally in the preparation of Mother Tinctures and also in making of official alcohol.

Pure Rectified Spirit containing 160% of Proof Spirit . It contains 91.29% by volume of Ethyl Alcohol. Pure Rectified Spirit of 60 O.P. strength is generally used in India for Homoeopathic Potentisiation or dilutions of medicine. The strength of Pure Alcohol which is obtained after second distillation becomes approximately 95% by volume . By adding required quantities of distilled water , strong alcohol can be converted into 60 O.P.Rect. Spirit.

These are porous and pretty hard , prepared from cane sugar . The cane sugar used for this purpose should be of highest purity and of very fine grade . Globules are of size No.10,20,30. Pilules are of size No.40,60,70.
Broadly speaking Globules, Pilules and Pellets come under the same heading of globules Granules are small spheres made from a mixture of saccharose and lactose. - Globules are also small spheres of the same mixture, saccharose-lactose, but much smaller, around two hundred per gram. They are usually reserved for high dilutions (30X and higher). Basically, granules and globules are neutral .

These are prepared from sugar of milk and generally available in approximately .065 gm size ( 65 milligram or 1gram )

These are the main mediums in which all the above mediums are used to be finally delivered to the consumer . There are various sizes and colours in which homeopathic medicines are dispensed srarting from 1dram vials upto 500ml bottles in case of consumers and higher when required for distribution .
